Monica Alfreds has a background in Fine Arts, Art History and Animation. She has worked professionally as an animator on projects for companies such as PBS, Nelvana and Dreamworks. She left the industry after the birth of her daughter in 2000. In 2004 she decided to start her own business, one that would allow her to work from home and combine all of her varied artistic and personal interests. Her love of vintage fabrics and other materials inspired her to create an innovative handbag company called Drama Queen Designs. She specializes in creating one-of-a-kind and custom designed purses from vintage, rescued and recycled materials. She has created over a dozen product lines ranging from funky revamped granny purses and record bags to stunning wedding “Bouquet Bags” and “Queen’s Line” feather pouches. Each handbag has a name, a purse history, a photo as well as a “Get Noticed” guarantee. Her company mission is to create fun, personal, fabulous and ethical products that celebrate and inspire creativity, while respecting the environment. Monica’s “talent for understanding people’s personalities allows her to create beautiful bags that also convey her personal philosophy of expressing yourself through what you wear. Her passion is undeniable and her creativity is limitless.” Melanie Fung (Wedluxe Magazine).
